CHANDLER, Ariz. - The North Dakota women's golf team finished 10th spring-opening Lumberjack at Ocotillo where the squad competed against seven other Big Sky teams.
McNeese State held on for the wire-to-wire victory after finishing with a 303 in the final round to post a winning score of 914 (+50). Host Northern Arizona took second (941, +77), but was 27 shots behind the pace set by the Cowgirls
UND bettered its score for the second straight day thanks to improved play by seniors Robin Hutchinson and Shantel Montgomery. Hutchinson fired an 84 (+12), which was the low round of the tournament posted by a UND golfer, while Montgomery also played better, shooting an 86 (+14) in her last 18 holes.

Hutchinson's 84 also helped her finish as the top UND golfer in the field as she tied for 49th with a 54-hole total of 261. Montgomery was six shots behind her at 267.  
Senior Megan Grozdanich showed the best improvement in the field in her final round, shaving 10 strokes off to card an 88 (+16). Sophomore Amanda Fairweather rounded out the quartet of UND scorers with a 92 (+20).
UND will take three weeks off before returning to Arizona for the Red Rocks Invitational on March 2-4, which is hosted once again by the Lumberjacks.
