ANTHEM, Ariz. - The University of North Dakota men's golf team opened its spring season by defeating Creighton in a dual match at the Quintero Golf Club. The two teams traveled south to warmer weather and were able to get 36 holes in against each other on Monday and Tuesday.

UND opened with a 313 (+25) and followed that up with a 304 (+16) on Tuesday to defeat the Bluejays by a combined 28 strokes. Senior Nick Schaefer was the top golfer in the field, carding an opening-round 78 (+6) before posting the low round of the two-day event on Tuesday with an even-par 72. Schaefer finished at 150 (+6), which was two strokes ahead of teammate Collin Lervick (152, +8).

Lervick, a sophomore, followed up a 79 (+7) with a career-low round of 73 (+1) in the closing 18 holes. Senior Alex Robb was also in the 70's for both of his rounds, going 76-78 to fire a 154 (+10). Junior Sean Halvorson rounded out the scoring for UND on both days with scores of 80 (+8) and 81 (+9) to post a 161 (+17).
