MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Standout performances by sophomore Rochelle Robb and freshman Ke-Ke Burks highlighted North Dakota's second day at the Shamrock Invitational, hosted by Coastal Carolina University.
Robb, a Bull Bay, Jamaica, native, tied Army's McKenzie Majchrzak and North Carolina's Nakita Gray for the top mark in the high jump, with a leap of 1.65 meters (5 feet, 5 inches).
Burks, meanwhile, recorded a hammer throw of 47.83 meters (156 feet, 11 inches), good enough for a sixth-place finish for the native of Madison, Wis.
A trio of UND athletes -- Megan Gray (Sr., St. Cloud, Minn.), Ashley Fedie (So., Chanhassen, Minn.) and Hailey Brinkman (Fr., Grey Eagle, Minn.) -- also began competition in the first three events of the heptathlon.
Grey finished third in the javelin with a mark of 32.32 meters (106 feet) and fifth in the long jump with a leap of 4.87 meters (15 feet, 11 3/4 inches). Fedie led the trio in the 800-meters, finishing fifth with a time of 2 minutes, 33.16 seconds.
The Shamrock Invitational concludes on Saturday.
