#DayByDay Fall Camp Notebook: No. 14
This and That
For the first time during fall camp, the North Dakota football team had to battle Mother Nature as steady rain fell on the squad during Monday morning's practice at Memorial Stadium. The weather could not have been better for the first two weeks of fall camp, but the change in elements did not keep the team from getting its work in on the practice field.
"I thought it was actually good for the guys," UND head coach Bubba Schweigert said. "Sometimes when there is a change in your environment, it gives you a little extra energy. The cool temperatures also helped keep the guys from wearing out and I never heard one complaint about wet footballs or field conditions.
"We would have liked to have been a little sharper throughout the whole practice, but those things are going to happen when you get conditions like we had today."
One More Two-A-Day
The weather is supposed to be clearer for Tuesday's practices, which will be the final two-a-day of fall camp as the UND team heads into its stretch run before next Thursday's season opener at San Jose State. The team will practice at 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m on Tuesday before practicing again on Wednesday morning prior to a two-day break before full preparation for the Spartans begins on Saturday.
Fan Fest Set For Thursday
The Third Annual UND Football Fan Fest sponsored by Midco Sports Network will be held on Thursday, Aug. 21 at Memorial Stadium. Fans will get the chance to meet and get autographs from first-year head coach Bubba Schweigert and his 2014 squad. There will be free pizza available for approximately the first 500 fans and representatives from Midco SN will also be on hand with their prize wheel. The event will run from 7-8 p.m.
Freshman nose guard Tank Harris was back on the practice field after missing nearly two weeks with a leg injury suffered early in fall camp. He was in full pads working with his unit in all the drills.
