Fisk breaks school heptathlon record at Big Sky

BOZEMAN, Mont. -- North Dakota's first event at its first Big Sky Championship has resulted in a school record.

Junior Jordan Fisk racked up 4,296 points in the heptathlon today at the 2013 Big Sky Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship, breaking his own school record in the event.
A native of Langdon, N.D., Fisk placed eighth in the event.

Junior Shawn Johnson (Eveleth, Minn.) enjoyed UND's highest finish through the first two days, placing fourth in the shot put with a mark of 16.05 meters (56 feet, 6 3/4 inches).

UND's distance medley relay team placed seventh, as Nate Peterson, Matthew McCreary, Dwight Mandimika and Sam Saccoman combined for a time of 10:31.98.

Junior Jesse Fenstermacher (Hibbing, Minn.) narrowly missed qualifying for the 800-meter finals, placing ninth in the prelims with a time of 1 minute, 54.61 seconds.

Freshman Jimmy Evers (Grand Forks, N.D.) clocked a time of 7.91 seconds in the preliminaries of the 55-meter hurdles, but did not qualify for tomorrow's finals. Teammate John LeClerc (Fr., Grafton, N.D.) was right behind with a time of 7.99 seconds.

In the high jump, Ryan Andert (So., Eagan, Minn.) placed 11th with a leap of 1.90 meters (6 feet, 2 3/4 inches).

The championship concludes tomorrow.
