AUSTIN, Texas -- Junior thrower Shawn Johnson concluded his first-ever appearance at the NCAA Divisioin I Track and Field Preliminary Championships tonight, competing in the shot put in the West Prelims.

Johnson recorded a throw of 15.70 meters (51'6.25") to place 45th in the preliminaries. Yesterday, the Eveleth, Minn., native placed 19th in the discus after entering the week ranked 31st.

Johnson was UND's first national competitor at the Division I level. On Saturday, teammates D'Monte Farley (Cottage Grove, Minn.) and Jayd Eggert (Minot, N.D.) will round out UND's entry at the 2013 West Prelims.

Farley will compete in the triple jump, while Eggert will throw in the javelin.
