Men's track wraps up Thundering Herd Classic

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota picked up a pair of runner-up finishes and multiple personal records on Saturday, the final day of the two-day Thundering Herd Classic hosted by North Dakota State.

Senior thrower Shawn Johnson was second in the shot put, hitting a mark of 55 feet, 3 inches. His teammate, freshman Ian Collins, was right behind in third place with a throw of 51-01.00.

A pair of UND sophomores also cracked the top-4 in the 60-meter hurdles. Jimmy Evers was the runner-up with a time of 8.45 seconds, while John LeClerc was fourth at 8.54 seconds.

UND received a third-place finish in the 200-meters from freshman Tyler Olson, as the Buffalo, Minn., native clocked a time of 22.57.

In the seeded weight throw, Jake Bissell finished fourth with a toss of 56-08.00, while Keaton Hanevold took seventh in the open weight throw with a PR of 46 feet.

Senior Kohl Koppinger nailed a PR in the pole vault by clearing 15-01.50, good for a sixth-place finish. Teammate Tyler Colling cleared the identical mark.

UND returns to action next weekend at the Iowa State Classic.
