GRAND FORKS, N.D. --- North Dakota's Kenna Olsen and Michelle Frank have been named Great West Conference Softball Players of the Week after leading the Fighting Sioux to a 5-1 record last week. The honors were announced Tuesday by the conference office.

Olsen, a junior from Issaquah, Wash., hit .476 in the six games as the Sioux split two games with South Dakota State, while sweeping twin bills against South Dakota and Green Bay. For the week, the utility player had 10 hits and five RBI, including a double and a home run.

The pitching honor went to Frank, who went 4-1 on the week. The junior from Chaska, Minn., picked up her lone loss against South Dakota State, a 5-3 defeat in 11 innings. Frank pitched 5.2 innings in that game, giving up two runs while striking out six, and then took the win in the nightcap-- a 4-3 win over the Jackrabbits, while striking out eight batters. In addition, Frank posted a 4-1 win over South Dakota and a 7-4, 10-8 sweep of Green Bay. For the Week, the righthander registered 30 strikeouts, a 2.68 ERA, and held the opponents to a .212 batting average.

The Fighting Sioux return to action this weekend in nonconference action against South Dakota and Nebraska-Omaha.
