Grand Forks, N.D. – The University of North Dakota softball team had four members named honorable mention on the inaugural Big Sky Softball All-Conference Teams released today by the league office.

The UND recipients were senior Cami Bennett (Grants Pass, Ore.) at shortstop and juniors Caralyn Chewning (Willamina, Ore.) at pitcher/utility, D Jantzer (Grants Pass, Ore.) at utility and Amanda Johnson (Ashby, Minn.) as an outfielder.

Idaho State’s Vicky Galasso was named the BSC Player of the Year and Portland State’s Anna Bertrand received the BSC Pitcher of the Year honors.

Season Statistical Highlights

Bennett: Had 26 hits … Led the team with 20 runs scored … Tied for the team lead with nine stolen bases … Had a .940 fielding percentage.

Chewning: Had three wins in the circle to tie for the team lead … Had a 4.85 earned run average with 31 strikeouts and only 17 walks ... Was second on the team with a .297 average and led the team with six doubles … Was tied for second on the team with 17 RBI … Had a .971 fielding percentage.

Jantzer: Led the team with a .308 average and 19 RBI while adding 13 runs scored … Had two home runs and five stolen bases … Had a .950 fielding percentage.

Johnson: Led the team in home runs with five while adding one triple and one double … Collected 17 RBI, 12 runs scored and five stolen bases … Had a .947 fielding percentage.

Sophomore Cortez Seales scored 17 points off the bench to help UND register its first win in Ogden in five tries.
