GRAND FORKS, N.D. – University of North Dakota Director of Athletics Brian Faison announced today that head softball coach Eric Oakley has tendered his resignation and will not return for his fourth season.

Hired in the fall of 2011, Oakley spent three seasons at the helm, including UND's first two as a member of the Big Sky Conference. Oakley intends to pursue opportunities closer to his family in Michigan.

Oakley's resignation is effective June 30. A national search for a full-time head coach will begin immediately.
