FARGO, N.D. -- Freshman Molly Griep shattered a school record in the weight throw today, leading another outstanding performance for the University of North Dakota women's track and field team today at the Bison Open.

Griep logged a weight throw of 53 feet, 7 inches (16.33 meters), to eclipse the previous school record of 52 feet, 1 ¾ inches set by Christine Weinreich at the 2011 Great West Conference Championship.

Behind Griep's school record in the weight throw, freshman Ke-Ke Burks (Madison, Wis.) heaved a throw of 51 feet, 5 inches (15.67 meters) that was the fourth-best in school history.

Griep also recorded the ninth-best shot put in UND history with a mark of 42 feet, 8 ¼ inches (13.01 meters). She was one of three UND throwers to crack the school's all-time top 10 in the shot, joining Chantel Urban (So., Surrey, N.D.) and Alyssa Lueck (Fr., Walworth, Wis.), whose throws ranked seventh and eighth all-time.

Freshman Stephanie Clarke (Edmonton, Alberta), already the owner of a pair of school records, won the 400-meters with a time of 57.04 seconds.

Sophomore Rochelle Robb (Bull Bay, Jamaica) was the runner-up in the high jump after clearing 5 feet, 5 inches (1.65 meters).

UND is back in action next Friday at the USD Indoor Twilight.
