GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) tabbed four University of North Dakota softball players as 2012-13 NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes, the association announced Monday.

Current senior Amanda Johnson and sophomore Megan Keegan, along with 2012-13 seniors Cami Bennett and Kenna Olsen earned the prestigious honor.

The award is bestowed upon any player submitted by a member coach who achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2012-13 academic year.

Bennett wrapped up her career in the spring leading the team in runs during her senior season. A marketing major with a graphic design technology minor, she led the group with a 3.85 grade-point average and is scheduled to graduate in May.

Olsen also wrapped up her career in the spring, and she led the softball team with a .403 batting average during her junior season (2011-12). She is an athletic training major set to graduate in May 2015.

Johnson, a rehabilitation and human services major, and Keegan, a pre-criminal justice studies major, just recently finished the non-championship portion of the 2013-14 schedule, helping UND defeat Bemidji State, 8-0 in five innings, and Minnesota Crookston, 4-0, on Oct. 6.

The spring schedule is set to begin on Feb. 21 with the Florida Gulf Coast University Round Robin tournament in Ft. Myers, Fla.
