SAN ANTONIO - Sophomore Collin Lervick's 76 (+4) was the low round of the day for a North Dakota golfer during opening day action at the America Sky Championship. He is tied for 21st in the field of 60 golfers.

Junior Sean Halverson also broke 80 in the opening round of the 54-hole, three-day event at The Dominion Country Club. He carded a 79 (+7), putting together a steady round that included 12 pars.

Sacramento State is the defending champion, but host Houston Baptist was the team bolting out to a nine-stroke lead after the first 18 holes. The Huskies combined for a 282 (-6) to build a decent cushion on Utah Valley (291, +3). Northern Colorado (294, +6), Southern Utah (296, +8) and Binghamtom (298, +10) are bunched together just behind the Wolverines.

UND finished with a 317 (+29) with Lervick continuing to play well down the stretch of his second season with the Green and White. He had a team-best three birdies on his round to combat five bogies and one double-bogey.

Senior Nick Schaefer posted an 80 (+8) in his opening round, while classmate Alex Robb rounded out UND's top four golfers with an 82 (+10). The Green and White are in 11th in the team standings, but just 13 shots behind the Hornets, who are in seventh place overall. The defending champions shot a 304 (+16).
