Lake Charles, La. - Junior Collin Lervick and sophomore Aaron Pulanco each carded a 36-hole total of 148 (+4) to lead The North Dakota men's golf team in day one action at the Moe O'Brien Intercollegiate.

Lervick carded a pair of 74's in his opening two rounds, while Pulanco posted a 75, then backed it up with the low round of the day for a UND golfer with a 73 (+1) on the par-72 layout at the Lake Charles Country Club.

Pulanco's 73 helped UND post its lowest team score of the 2013-14 season with a 302 (+14). Pulanco and Lervick are tied for 22nd, while teammates Sean Halverson and Tyler Kast are tied for 47th after shooting respective scores of 156 (+12).

Halverson shaved two strokes off his opening 18 holes to card a 77 (+5) in his second round, while Kast was consistent with a pair of 78's.

Host McNeese State built an 11-stroke lead on the 13-team field after opening with a 289 (+1), then erasing 15 strokes off that score with a second-round total of 274 (-14). The Cowboys are 11 shots in front of Texas Pan-American  (574; -2) and 12 ahead of Stephen F. Austin (575; -1).

UND (608; +32) is in ninth place and five shots ahead of rival North Dakota State (613; +37), who is in tenth.

The 54-hole event will conclude on Tuesday with the third and final round on the par 72 layout at the Lake Charles Country Club.
