Lake Charles, La. - Freshman Daniel Sayler shot a final round 75 (+3) to pace the North Dakota men's golf team in final round action at the Moe O'Brien Intercollegiate. Sayler shot an 83 and 79 in yesterday's first two rounds, respectively, but turned it around to lead his squad in the third round.

Junior Collin Lervick and sophomore Aaron Pulanco were UND's top golfers on Monday, but the duo struggled with scores of 81 (+9) and 82 (+10) on Tuesday at the par-72 layout at the Lake Charles Country Club.

Lervick was the top UND finisher, tying for 38th with a 54-hole total of 229 (+13), while Pulanco finished a stroke behind (230; +14) and tied for 41st. Senior Sean Halverson was the only UND golfer to post three rounds in the 70's during the event as he finished 49th with a 234 (+18).

Host McNeese State built an 11-stroke lead on the 13-team field yesterday and cruised to the team victory by 22 strokes. The Cowboys closed with a final round 277 (-11), while Texas-Pan American took runner-up with an 862 (-2) team score.   

UND (922; +56) finished 11th out of the 13 teams after posting its highest score of the tournament on Tuesday with a 314 (+26).

UND returns to action in mid-March at the Jackrabbit Spring Invitational in Primm, Nevada.
