Angels Camp, Calif. - The North Dakota men's golf team is embarking on the Golden State this week for the 2014 America Sky Championship. The 54-hole event is set to begin on Friday with the opening round at the Greenhorn Creek Resort just outside Angels Camp, Calif.

The seven-team field features teams from all over the country with only Sacramento State set to play in its home state. North Dakota's five-man lineup will play with Southern Utah, Binghamton and Weber State in Friday's opening round.

Head coach Tim Swanson's lineup for this event will see junior Collin Lervick play out of the No. 1 spot, while sophomore Aaron Pulanco will man the No. 2 position. Senior Sean Halverson, who enters the event playing his best golf of the season, will play out the No. 3 spot. Sophomore Brady Ohman will out of the fourth position and freshman Nick Jenson will tee off from the fifth spot.

Lervick owns the team's best stroke average so far this season entering the conference championship at 77.84. He has the low round of the season for a UND golfer with a 69 (-2) turned in during the final round of the Jackrabbit Invitational when he took fourth in the event with a season-low 54-hole total of 214 (+1).

Pulanco has played in all nine events with his best finish coming at the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational hosted by Southern Utah. He tied for 19th with a 36-hole total of 147 (+3). Pulanco opened that tournament with a season-low 71 (-1).

Halverson has led UND in its past two tournaments and been the team's most consistent golfer this spring. Eleven of his last 12 rounds have been in the 70's and he tied for 25th in a deep field at the team's last event - the Arkansas State Red Wolves Intercollegiate.

Grand Forks native Brady Ohman has six rounds in the 70's during his first season with the team. He was twice shot a season best 77 (+2) in the opening rounds of the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational and Jackrabbit Spring Invitational.

Freshman Nick Jenson will get his fourth start of the season at the America Sky event. He posted a 239 (+26) in his first collegiate event back in September at the Jackrabbit Fall Invitational. He also played in the latest event in Jonesboro, Ark.

The men placed 11th in this event in 2013 at the The Dominion Club in San Antonio, Texas. Lervick was the top finisher for UND, tying for 39th with a 231 (+15) total.
