Primm, Nev. - Senior Alex Robb blistered the Desert Course at the Primm Valley Golf Club on Monday to the tune of a career-low 65 (-7) in opening round action at the Jackrabbit Invitational.

The plan was to get 36 holes in on day one, but the 14-team field was not able to get all the way through the second round because of darkness due to an early morning frost delay that pushed back the start time. Round two will be concluded on Tuesday along with the entire third and final round.

Robb's career-best round included seven birdies and two eagles and was tied for the overall lead with Gordon Webb of Idaho.

Classmate Nick Schaefer also shot under par for UND as the Green and White are fourth in the team standings after a season-low 290 (+2). Schaefer carded a 70 (-2) in his opening round that included three birdies and an eagle.

"Both Alex and Nick played great," UND head coach Rob Stiles said. "There were some low numbers out there and it was nice to see our guys right there at the top of the leaderboard."

Schaefer was tied for 10th after his opening round, while teammates Collin Lervick shot a 76 (+4) and Sean Halverson added a 79 (+7) to round out the scoring for UND.

Air Force (276, -14) holds a slim two-shot lead on Idaho (278, -12) in the team standings as the Falcons and Vandals separated themselves from the rest of the field by double-digit strokes. Host South Dakota State is in third after an even-par 288 (E) from its top foursome.

UND is only two shots of the Jacks' pace and two shots ahead of Drake (292, +4), who is in fifth.

The conclusion of round two and the entire third and final round are expected to be completed on Tuesday.
