Bakersfield, UND - Senior Nick Schaefer rebounded from an opening round 78 (+6) to post a 73 (+1) in his final 18 holes of the day at the CSUB Spring Invitational on Monday to pace the North Dakota men's golf team.

Each squad in the five-team played 36 holes on the 6,804-yard, par 72 layout at the Bakersfield Country Club. Schaefer's 73 in the second round was tied for the fourth-best score overall in the final 18 holes of competition on the opening day of the tournament.

That matched UND sophomore Collin Lervick's 73 (+1) from the opening round, which also tied for the fourth best score overall in the first 18 holes of the day. Schaefer wound up in a tie for 11th, while Lervick was tied for 15th after carding an 81 (+2) in his second round.

Juniors Sean Halverson and Joseph McNelis each finished with two-round totals of 161 (+17) and are tied for 20th overall.  McNelis backed up an opening-round 78 (+6) with an 83 (+11), while Halverson went 82-79 in his two rounds.
