GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- Utah Valley University won its third consecutive Great West Conference Men's Cross Country Championship today at Ray Richards Golf Course.

The Wolverines finished with 43 team points to defeat runner-up Texas-Pan American (74 points) ion the 8K race.

Houston Baptist's Matt Perri took first place in the individual standings with a time of 25:12.66.

The host Fighting Sioux placed fifth with 103 points. UND had been picked fifth in the Great West preseason poll.

UND senior Tyler Rose (Brainerd, Minn.), running his last race as a Sioux, earned All-GWC second team honors with an eighth-place finish. Rose recorded a time of 25:49.93.

Rose was joined in the top 18 by a pair of teammates. Freshman Nick Lindstrom (Shakopee, Minn.) placed 17th with a time of 26:20.52, while sophomore James Dean (Brainerd, Minn.) clocked in at 26:21.57 to finish 18th.
