SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Finishing ahead of such schools as Nebraska and North Dakota State, the University of North Dakota men's cross country team placed 24th today at the NCAA Division I Midwest Regional, the program's regional debut at the Division I level.

UND recorded a team score of 631 to finished ahead of five other schools in the field of 29.

Rivals Oklahoma and Oklahoma State tied for first place and the regional championship, a first in Midwest Region history. The Sooners and Cowboys each finished with 45 points.

Tulsa's Chris O'Hare captured the individual championship, charting the 10K course in 30:25.87.

Junior Ross Nelson was UND's top finisher with a time of 33:10.29 in a tightly-packed effort by UND. Sophomore Nate Peterson was right behind at 33:13.41.
