GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The University of North Dakota's Jocelyne Lamoureux and Veronica Medon have been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team, as voted by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The academic all-district teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance athletically and academically.

Lamoureux, a junior hockey player, was a top-three finalist for the Patty Kazamaier Award as the best player in NCAA women's hockey and was an American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) first-team All-American, becoming the first player in program history to receive either honor. She led the nation in scoring with a school-record 82 points while also establishing UND records for goals (34) and assists (48). A team captain and a Grand Forks, N.D., native, Lamoureux helped UND land its first NCAA postseason berth and was named UND's Grace Rhonemus Female Athlete of the Year earlier this month.

In the classroom, Lamoureux is a physical education, exercise science and wellness major with a 3.87 grade point average. She was named the WCHA Most Outstanding Student-Athlete of the Year, a WCHA Scholar-Athlete, a WCHA All-Academic selection and a was a member of the 2011 Fall Athletics Director's Honor Roll.

Medon, a junior swimmer, was named UND's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year earlier this month. The Huntsville, Ontario, native, broke three school records (200 IM, 100 back, 200 back) at the 2012 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championship, the latter two eclipsing her own school records she had set earlier in the year.

A team captain, Medon helped UND land Fall 2011 College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCSAA) Scholar All-America Team honors. She boasts a 4.0 grade point average as a psychology major, with a minor in criminal justice, and was named to the Academic All-WAC Team.

Both Lamoureux and Medon advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
