MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.- Host Minnesota defeated the UND swimming
and diving teams by 198-90 (men) and 196-94 scores (women) Friday night. The
Gopher teams are each features in the top 15 in their respective polls (men, No. 11, women No. 13).
"Overall we had a good meet," UND head coach Steve Parsons said. "Minnesota is
just a really good team. Anytime you swim programs ranked in the top 15 you
know you are going to see some great swimming. Our team really was not
intimidated and I thought we put together some good swims.
"Kara Fisher had another solid meet, with good showings in the 50 and 100 free.
Morgan Lynch and Caitlin Quon had good swims in the mile and 500. Veronica
Medon had a nice showing in the 100 backstroke. It was nice to have some of our
young women back in the lineup after illness and injury hit us had the past
couple of weeks.
"On the men's side we had some good races. Adam Gannon had one of the best
swims in the 100 breaststroke tonight. I believe that is his fastest in season
swim in that event. Aaron had a solid showing in the distance events after a
rough weekend last week. Again it was nice to have some of our top guys back
after dealing with the flu and injuries the past few weeks.
"Looking forward to our meet tomorrow with South Dakota."
UND will head to South Dakota Saturday for duals against the Coyotes.
More details to follow soon.
