DENVER — Three North Dakota athletes have earned Western Athletic Conference weekly honors after their performances in the season opening home meet last Satuday. UND's Austin Smith was the Male Swimmer of the Week, Rick Eberle was the Male Diver of the Week and Rachael Waldbillig was the Female Diver of the Week, announced Wednesday.

Smith, a junior from Colorado Springs, Colo. (Rampart HS), won three individual events in helping North Dakota defeat South Dakota State and St. Cloud State. Smith opened the meet with a victory in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.68.  He then took the 200 breast in 2:07.72 and capped off the meet with a time of 1:58.91 to win the 200 individual medley.

Eberle, a senior from Fort Collins, Colo. (Colorado State), won both the 1-meter and 3-meter events in the double-dual meet.  Eberle opened with a score of 300.55 on the 1-meter board to win by nearly 25 points.  He then scored 328.05 points on the 3-meter, outdistancing the second place competitor by almost 25 more points.

Waldbillig, a senior from Circle Pines, Minn. (Centennial HS), won both the 1-meter and 3-meter events in a dual meet against South Dakota State.  She scored 241.35 points on the 3-meter board to win by just over a point against her teammate, Lexi Eissinger.  Waldbillig then had 230.85 points on the 1-meter to win by more than 11 over Eissinger.  North Dakota won the meet, 161-139.

UND will travel to Vermillion, S.D. to dual rival South Dakota on Friday.
