SAN ANTONIO, Tex.-University of North Dakota's Veronica Medon shattered her own school record in the 100 backstroke, part of an impressive showing in day three at the WAC Championships at the Aquatic Center at Palo Alto College Friday.
"We had a solid day of swims," UND head swimming coach Steve Parsons said. "A pretty good number of second swims
tonight. Morgan Lynch, Ali Church and Kelsey Richels got the evening
started off with strong showings in the 200 Free. Camille Merwin and
Alison Tonsager had great swims
in the 100 breaststroke. Alison posted a personal best by over a
second! Kara Fisher had a nice swim in the 100 backstroke. Erin
Grabanski is having a great meet and she swam a great 100 backstroke.
Erin held the varsity record for about three minutes after Veronica Medon finished off the individual events with a great swim in
the 100 backstroke. Veronica put in a lot of work during the off season
and it paid off with a NCAA “B” standard time in the 100 backstroke. Her time of 55.01 reset the varsity record! The evening finished with a strong showing in the 400 Medley Relay.

Medon destroyed her own 100 backstroke effort, etching another UND
record in the process touching in 55.01. That time was good for an NCAA B cut.
Erin Grabanski won the "B" Final in that event with her 55.39 time to take
ninth place while Kara Fisher added a 15th-place showing to give
UND 27 team points combined in the 100 back.
In the 200 free, two UND swimmers scored points as freshman Ali Church took 11th
by shaving more than two seconds off her seed time (1:52.07). Kelsey Richels was just behind her at
1:52.59 for 13th place. The 400 medley relay wrapped-up a successful third day with a sixth-place showing, slicing alomst six seconds off their seed time, touching in 3:48.77.
The meet concludes Saturday.
