LAWRENCE, Kan.-- North Dakota split duals with Nebraska Omaha and host Kansas Saturday afternoon. UND defeated the Mavericks, 201-98 and fell to the Jayhawks 229.5-70.5.

"We are pleased at the way our athletes performed today," UND head coach Chris Maiello said. "We executed our races much better than yesterday and our results showed. It is a challenge swimming Kansas in Lawrence, however our athletes stood up to the challenge nicely. We were anticipating a closer meet with Nebraska Omaha but our women did a great job and the meet ended up not being as close as we had expected. Give credit to Kansas, they swam well and they are a program that we are looking up to, but I am proud of what we did today.

"Leading the way with a victory was Courtney Funk in the 50 free and Kristen Ainsworth was second in the 200 Back, and Erin Grabanski second in the 100 Back. To get such high finishes from these young ladies was and is a big boost for the team. Up and down our lineup the girls had season best times. These include: Erin Grabanski, Morgan Lynch, Camille Merwin, Kelsey Richels, Nicole Stevens, McKenzie Jeske, Sami Puk, Alexa Weyer, and Steph Frey. Our divers also did very well and made significant progress at our meet today. I need to give credit to coach Strom for getting our divers in a good position for next week against Minnesota.”

Funk's win came in a 24.50 time, beating out Kansas' Lea Wissocq by .12 seconds. Ainsworth was just edged out in the 200 backstroke with her 2:06.92 time, less than a half-second behind winner Hannah Angell of KU.

Rachael Waldbillig took third place from both boards in diving, scoring 229.35 in the 3-meter event and 217.50 from the short board.

North Dakota will host the University of Minnesota next Saturday, Nov. 9 for both men's and women's duals. The meet is set for a noon start with diving to begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Hyslop Pool.
