GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The University of North Dakota swimming and diving team fell to the University of Minnesota in a dual meet on Saturday afternoon in the Hyslop pool. The women were defeated by the Gophers, 179-114, while the men fell by a score of 179-113.
Senior Camille Merwin (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) was the lone first-place finisher for the UND women. Merwin posted a time of 1:06.03 in the 100 yard breaststroke and had 2:23.17 finish in the 200 yard breatstroke.
On the diving board, senior Rachael Waldbillig (Circle Pines, Minn.) finished sixth on the 3-meter dive with a score of 255.40. Sophomore Alexis Eissinger (Fargo, N.D) also placed sixth on the 1-meter dive scoring 230.35.
For the men, freshman Noah Lucas (Shoreview, Minn.) had a strong day, recording two first-place victories. Lucas finished the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:41.06. He would later swim the 100 freestyle with a 46.24 finish.
Lucas also finished second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:34.36.
Senior diver Richard Eberle (Fort Collins, Colo.) placed second on the 1-meter dive with a score of 301.55. On the men’s 3-meter dive, junior Michael Golling (Moorhead, Minn.) scored 283.75 for a third-place finish.
North Dakota will return to the pool November 22-14 when they travel to Evanston, Ill. for the Northwestern Invite.
