GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- The University of North Dakota women defeated Grand Canyon 154-140 while the men fell 169-125 Saturday afternoon at the Hyslop pool.

"I'm real happy with our progress, we swam much better today than we did yesterday," UND head coach Chris Maiello said. "Our women's breaststrokers made the difference today in the win. Our divers continue to do well and I'm happy with our progress there, too. I'm really excited about our prospects for the conference meet."

Ali Church won the 200 freestyle in 1:54.73. Erin Grabanski picked up a win in the 100 backstroke with her 59.11 time. The 100 breaststrokers nabbed the first four places with Camille Merwin going 1:06.57 to pace the team. Alexa Weyer, Nicole Stevens and Alli Schwab went two through four. Merwin later also won the 200 breaststroke with her 2:24.09 clocking.

Rachael Waldbillig won the 1-meter diving competition with a 259.35 score. Lexi Eissinger won the 3-meter event with a 239.05 score.

"Michael Golling had a real good day today, winning both boards," UND diving coach Brian Strom said. "He made an NCAA zone cut from the 1-meter board, making three divers qualifying thus far for us (Rick Eberle, Waldbillig)."

Austin Smith won a pair of events, taking the 100 breaststroke in easy fashion, winning in 56.39. He later touched first in the 200 breaststroke in 2:05.83.

Golling's diving wins started with a qualifying score for the NCAA zone meet with his 305.35 winning mark from the 1-meter board. Eberle was second and Clayton Metcalf third. From the 3-meter board, he recorded a 318.10 output for the win.

North Dakota travels to Colorado Springs, Colo. next weekend and host Air Force University to face three schools in dual meets. Action begins Friday and continues Saturday.
