Coyotes invade Hyslop pool for Senior Day meet

SENIOR SENDOFF
UND will honor its senior class before Saturday's meet, saying thanks to eight athletes competing in their final home meet of their careers: Morgan Lynch, Camille Merwin, Sami Puk, Kelsey Richels and Rachael Waldbillig for the women and Richard Eberle, Adam Gannon and Dan Jacobson on the men's side.

WHAT'S AHEAD
UND will head to Brookings, S.D. to face the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State next Saturday. The divers will compete at the Polar Bear Challenge bookending the meet and then UND will finish the regular season at the Minnesota Challenge at the University of Minnesota.

LAST ACTION
Both UND men's and women's swimming and diving teams each defeated Seattle University for the second straight day  as competition wrapped up at the Air For Academy Natatorium on Jan. 19. The UND men won 129-89 and lost to the host Falcons 116-100 while the North Dakota women were 121-99 winners over Seattle and lost duals to Air Force (131-90) and Northern Colorado (129-95).

ADDING TO THE MIX
Head coach Chris Maiello announced his first recruiting class, a group of 17 commitments earlier this year.  The class includes eight male swimmers, eight female swimmers and a female diver all set to continue their education and athletic careers at UND beginning in the fall of 2014.

AWESOME AUSTIN
Junior Austin Smith earned his second Western Athletic Conference Male Swimmer of the Week award with his performance at Air Force. Smith won both breaststroke events. On Friday, he won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:06.42 and won the 100 breaststroke the following day with a time of 55.96.  Smith also helped the 200 medley relay to a first place finish on Saturday with a time of 1:32.20.

RICK ROLL
Richard Eberle owns all three men's diving records at UND and is racking up WAC weekly honors as well. Eberle has been named the conference's male diver of the week three different times this season.

WAC UPCOMING
The UND men will be making their first apperance at the WAC Championships this season joining the UND women at the meet for the first time. The four-day meet is set for Feb. 26th through March 1st in San Antonio, Texas.

POLAR BEAR CHALLENGE ADDED
The UND diving teams have added a competition at the Polar Bear Challenge in Winnipeg, Manitoba. UND will compete on Jan. 31 and Feb. 2 at the challenge.
