GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- The UND football team completed its Spring practice season with a final practice at Memorial Field following by the annual cookout on a beautiful day in late April.

Friday's final practice was a bit abbreviated from others this week and closed with the coaches preparing burgers and hot dogs for the team and the families of the staff. Just some brief observations from the final session:

*Coaches have reiterated during several media interviews that the altered schedule and weather issues haven't really affected the players. While it caused a lot of hassle and shifting for the coaches, the student-athletes adapted well and it was business as usual for the most part.

*Offensive coordinator Luke Schleusner has been pleased with the play of all three quarterbacks in the Spring. Obviously, no starter will be named at this point and the competition will continue into Fall camp.

*Head coach Chris Mussman mentioned the emphasis on the run game and the effort to improve, mentioning get the ball into playmakers' hands including the receivers, not just RBs and QBs.

*Defense looked solid Friday, making several key plays.

*Romon Bridges hauled-in a long completion from Ryan Bartels on a third-down strike.

*Jake Hanson just missed on a bomb on the final play of the practice, throwing a deep ball over the middle.
