Davis, Calif. – UC Davis broke open a tight game with North Dakota in the second quarter by scoring 12 points in a 28-second span and posted a 34-18 victory over the visitors on Senior Day at Aggie Stadium.

UND (3-8, 2-6 BSC) never got closer than nine points after the Aggies (4-6, 4-3 BSC) scored in three different ways in that game-changing half minute.

Senior Greg Hardin closed out his All-American career with 11 receptions for 179 yards and became the first UND player in school history to eclipse 2,000 all-purpose yards in a single season. He finished with 215 in the game and 2,017 for the season.

Hardin and his 16 senior classmates tried to keep the Green and White in the game, cutting the deficit to 18-9 at halftime, but both teams could not muster any third-quarter points and Gabe Manzanares pushed the home team’s advantage to 24-9 with a 15-yard run on the first play of the fourth quarter.

The game was nearly even in total offense as the Aggies edged UND 429-428, but it was the UC Davis special teams that had the biggest impact on this game. The unit had 170 return yards, a safety and blocked an extra-point in what was the Aggies’ fourth Big Sky win of the season.

Sixty-five of those return yards came on the free kick following the safety and set up the first of three rushing touchdowns for Manzanares, who finished with 147 rushing yards and 47 receiving yards.

Redshirt freshman Ryan Bartels drove UND into UC Davis territory three different times in the second quarter, but the visitors could only manage six points on Adam Shaugabay’s eighth rushing touchdown of the season.

UND senior Zeb Miller knotted the score at 3-3 with a season long 45-yard field goal with 5:14 remaining in the opening quarter and another 45-yarder in the fourth quarter to make it a 24-12 contest.

Manzanares made it a 31-12 contest with a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter. Sophomore Kenny Golladay gave UND brief life with a 30-yard touchdown reception with 5:07 to play, but that would be the finally tally for the road team. He finished with five catches for 109 yards and team-leading eighth touchdown reception of the season.

Golladay finished the campaign with 69 catches for 884 yards. The 69 catches are tied for the third most in a single season, while Hardin finished with 67 catches for 1,153 yards. The yardage total is the second highest in a single season at UND.
