OMAHA, Neb. -- Freshman Amanda Fairweather shot an opening-round 84 today to lead the Fighting Sioux during the opening round of the Creight Golf Classic.
Fairweather, a native of Maple Valley, Wash., carded a 40 on the front nine, followed by a 44 to close out the round. She will enter tomorrow's action tied for 19th place.
Fairweather and the Sioux are in 12th place in the team standings with a 359.
Northern Iowa leads the team standings after shooting a 307, building a comfortable 17-shot lead over Southern Illinois.
UNI's Brittany Atterbury is the clubhouse leader after carding an even-par 72.
The second and final rounds take place on Tuesday beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The Creighton Golf Classic is UND's final action prior to the Great West Conference Championship April 23-25 in Highland, Utah.
