DelGreco leads UND to third-place finish

Missoula, Mont. - Freshman Dani DelGreco shot an even-par 71 in her final round to tie for fifth overall and lead UND to a third-place finish at the Grizzly Invitational on Tuesday. The 71 is the lowest single-round score by a UND women's golfer in its five-year Division I history.

Del Greco made three more birdies in her final round and finished her first full collegiate event with 11 as UND shot a 316 (+32) to post the second-best team score in the final round. 

"Dani had a phenomenal tournament, especially for a freshman," UND head coach Natalie Martinson said. "She played really well and this is the type of competition we are going to face in the Big Sky Conference, so this experience will bode well for not only her, but our entire team."

UND moved up to third place in the team standings, breaking the tie with Rocky Mountain College and passing UAB to finish behind fellow Big Sky foes Montana (878, +26) and Montana State (934, +82).

The host Grizzlies dominated their home course at the Missoula Country Club once again, posting a 294 to win the tournment by 56 strokes. Montana State finished just eight strokes ahead of UND, who equaled the Bobcats' with a final round 316.

Sophomore Sadie Martin carded a 78 (+7) in her last 18 holes to tie for 13th (235, +22). Freshman Alexis Guggisberg (21st; 245, +32) and sophomore Emma Kishel (22nd; 246, +33) finished just outside the top 20.

The team will next host the North Dakota Fall Classic on Sept. 16-17 at King's Walk Golf Course in Grand Forks. The 54-hole event begins next Monday with two rounds.
