Sedona, Ariz. – For the second consecutive day, freshmen Alexis Guggisberg and Dani DelGreco paced the North Dakota women's golf team at its spring-opening tournament in Arizona on Sunday. Guggisberg and DelGreco both carded a 79 in the final round of the Red Rocks Invitational being played just outside of Phoenix at the Oak Creek Country Club.
Guggisberg was the top finisher for UND in the 36-hole event, placing in a tie for 52nd after a two-day total of 160 (+16). DelGreco was one stroke back in a tie for 59th at 161 (+17). All five golfers for head coach Natalie Martinson improved on their scores from Saturday's opening round.
Senior Rachel Oeltjen topped her first-round score by five strokes, while junior Amanda Fairweather and sophomore Madison Gemar shaved four strokes off their opening-round scores.
Xavier ran away with the team title defeating a pair of Big Sky schools, who tied for second, by 14 strokes. Host Northern Arizona turned in a 297 (+9) in the final round to move into a tie with Sacramento State on the final day.
As a team, UND improved its second-round score by 15 total strokes to wind up with a 339 in the final round. The Green and White were among seven Big Sky teams competing in the two-day tournament.
