Grand Forks, N.D. – University of North Dakota senior women’s hockey student-athlete Jocelyne Lamoureux has been named a recipient of a one-time $7,500 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, to be used for postgraduate study within three years.

“Jocelyne represents the very best in student and athlete at the University of North Dakota,” said UND Athletics Director Brian Faison. “Her being awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship is yet another recognition of her truly outstanding accomplishments in the classroom and in her sport.”

This season’s NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipients (29 men and 29 women) represent winter-sports participants from all NCAA divisions. Lamoureux is the 36th recipient of the award in UND history and second in 2012-13, joining football senior Brett Cameron.

The scholarships are awarded to student-athletes who excel academically and athletically and who are in their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition. The Association awards up to 174 postgraduate scholarships annually, 87 for men and 87 for women.

The NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship was created in 1964 to promote and encourage postgraduate education by rewarding the Association's most accomplished student-athletes through their participation in NCAA championship and/or emerging sports.

Lamoureux is a graduate student in kinesiology where she has a 4.0 grade point average and received her bachelor’s degree in physical education, exercise science and wellness.

Lamoureux was named to the Capital One Academic All-America Division I Women’s At-Large Second Team in 2011-12, becoming the first Academic All-American in program history, and became a two-time honoree this past April.

Last month, Lamoureux was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s Outstanding Student-Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season.

A Patty Kazmaier Award top-three finalist and four-time nominee, Lamoureux concluded her career at UND leading the team to back-to-back NCAA National Tournament appearances and became the WCHA’s all-time leader in scoring with 285 points.

Boeser scored 43 goals and 94 points in 74 career games at UND.
