GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The University of North Dakota will open the regular season ranked No. 2 nationally, according to the latest USCHO.com Division I men's hockey poll released on Monday.

North Dakota was previously ranked No. 4 in the USCHO.com poll. Minnesota overtook defending NCAA champion Boston College atop the rankings, while UND received one first-place vote to climb two spots. BC received a pair of first-place votes but slid to No. 3, while Miami and Michigan rounded out the top five.

UND earned a 6-4 exhibition win over the United States Under-18 Team last Friday night, its second of two exhibition games. UND will open the regular season on Friday at the Brice Alaska Goal Rush in Fairbanks, where it will face WCHA rival Alaska Anchorage in a non-conference game. UND will play the host Alaska Nanooks on Saturday.
