GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of North Dakota announced its 2013-14 men’s hockey schedule today, in conjunction with the release of the inaugural National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) schedule.

North Dakota’s debut season with the brand new NCHC will include 24 conference games, as well as 10 non-conference matchups with WCHA, Hockey East and ECAC schools.

In all, the 2013-14 regular season schedule features 19 home games and 15 road games. With two home exhibition games also on the schedule, UND fans will have the opportunity to see no fewer than 21 home games next season.

After hosting the University of Manitoba in exhibition action on Oct. 5, UND will open the regular season with a non-conference series Oct. 11-2 against the Vermont Catamounts.

Other non-conference opponents in 2013-14 include St. Lawrence (Nov. 29-30) and Northern Michigan (Dec. 13-14) at home and Boston University (Nov. 22-23) on the road. UND will also face former WCHA rival Bemidji State in a home-and-home non-conference series Jan. 17-18.

UND will make its NCHC debut Oct. 18-19 with a road trip to Oxford, Ohio, to face the Miami RedHawks. Other away NCHC series include Nebraska Omaha (Nov. 8-9), Western Michigan (Dec. 6-7), Denver (Jan. 24-25), Minnesota Duluth (Feb. 21-22) and St. Cloud State (Feb. 28-March 1).

UND’s first-ever home NCHC series takes place Nov. 1-2 when it hosts St. Cloud State. Conference rivals Minnesota Duluth (Nov. 15-16), Colorado College (Jan. 10-11), Nebraska Omaha (Feb. 7-8), Miami (Feb. 14-15) and Western Michigan (March 7-8) will also visit Ralph Engelstad Arena.

The first round of the NCHC playoffs will take place March 14-16. The best-of-three series will be held at the home sites of the league’s top four seeds, with the winners of those series advancing to the NCHC Tournament March 21-22 at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

Next year’s NCAA regional sites include: Worcester, Mass.; Bridgeport, Conn.; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Saint Paul, Minn.

The 2013-14 NCAA Frozen Four will be held April 10-12 at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
