This Week                        
The NCHC stretch run continues with North Dakota hosting Nebraska Omaha, both of whom are tied with Denver for second place in the league standings.

All three teams enter the week with 24 points, just two back of league-leading St. Cloud State and one point up on fifth-place Minnesota Duluth.

All UND men’s hockey games, home and away, can be heard on 96.1 FM (The Fox) and on stations across the UND Hockey Radio Network. Veteran broadcaster Tim Hennessy, in his 35th season as the voice of UND men’s hockey, calls the action while Steve Olson provides analysis during home games.

Both games this weekend will be telecast live regionally on Midco Sports Network. Play-by-play announcer Dan Hammer is joined by color analyst Scott Koberinski and intermission reporter Katie Hale.

About Nebraska Omaha    
UNO is coming off of a series split with St. Cloud State last weekend in Omaha, falling 5-3 on Saturday before rebounding with a wild 8-6 win on Saturday.

Junior forward Dominic Zombo notched a hat trick in Saturday’s win over the Huskies, while linemates Josh Archibald and Jake Guntzel each had three assists.

Archibald leads the team in scoring with 28 points in 24 games, including an NCHC-leading 18 goals. Guentzel is tied for second in the rookie scoring race with 19 points.

The Mavericks rank second in the NCHC offensively, averaging 3.21 goals per game, but are also tied for last defensively, yielding 3.38 goals per game.

UNO Coaching Staff    
Head coach Dean Blais (Minnesota ‘73) is in his fifth season behind the Mavericks’ bench and is 84-80-18 (.511).

Now in his 15th season as a collegiate head coach, Blais owns a career record of 346-195-51 (.628). He was the head coach at UND from 1994-95 to 2003-04, leading the school to national titles in 1996-97 and 1999-00.

Blais’ staff includes assistant coaches Troy Jutting (Minnesota State ‘87) and  Alex Todd (Union ‘01).

Series History  
UND has won six of the 10 meetings between the two schools, most recently a 2-game split this past November in Omaha.

Last year, UND swept in the Mavs in Omaha, the series finale a 5-2 outdoor win over the Mavericks in the Mutual of Omaha Battles on Ice at TD Ameritrade Park.

Six of the 10 games in the all-time series have been decided by one goal, including four of the last six.

Sophomore Rocco Grimaldi (Rossmoor, Calif.) leads all active UND skaters with a goal and three assists in four career games against the Mavericks.

Senior goalie Clarke Saunders (Brockville, Ontario) has made five career starts against UNO, making 36, 44, 36, 40 and 58 saves in those starts for a .939 save percentage. His 58-save effort came in a 2-1 overtime win as a freshman while with Alabama-Huntsville.
