GRAND FORKS, N.D. – University of North Dakota senior captain Dillon Simpson was named to the 2013-14 All-CHN First Team by College Hockey News on Wednesday.

Simpson, UND’s youngest captain in 20 years, has led fifth-ranked North Dakota to a NCAA West Region championship and the 20th NCAA Frozen Four berth in program history. The Edmonton, Alberta, native leads the nation with 107 blocked shots in 41 games to go with his seven goals and 15 assists. A team-leading six of his seven goals have come on the power play, a total that ties him for second nationally among defensemen.

Simpson was named to the All-National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) First Team in March after leading the league’s defensemen with 19 points in 24 conference games and collecting a pair of NCHC Defenseman of the Week honors.

UND faces top-seeded and top-ranked Minnesota on Thursday, April 10 in the NCAA Frozen Four semifinal in Philadelphia. The winner advances to the national championship game on April 12 and will face either Union or Boston College.
