GRAND FORKS, N.D. - University of North Dakota senior forward Brent Davidson has signed a contract to play next season with Boras HC of the Swedish professional league HockeyAllsvenskan.

Davidson, a native of Morden, Manitoba, enjoyed his best season as a senior in 2010-11, achieving career highs in games played (26), points (eight), goals (five), assists (three) and plus/minus (+10). He also helped lead the Fighting Sioux to Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) regular season and playoff titles, as well as a berth in the NCAA Frozen Four, and was UND's nominee for the Hockey Commissioner's Association (HCA) Derek Hines Unsung Hero Award.

The 6-foot-4, 218-pound Davidson was named UND's Most Improved Player in 2007-08 after walking on as a freshman. After appearing in only five games that season, Davidson played in 10 as a sophomore, and 14 as a junior before enjoying his breakout senior season.

Despite having played forward for his entire career, Davidson played the final nine games of his junior season as a defenseman after the Sioux lineup was depleted by injuries. UND went 7-2-0 in those nine games and won the first of two straight Broadmoor Trophies as WCHA playoff champions.

Davidson finished his career with seven goals and three assists in 55 career games, along with a +14 plus/minus rating.

An entrepreneurship major, Davidson was a three-time selection to the All-WCHA Academic Team, and was named to UND's Athletics Director's Fall Honor Roll.

Davidson, who helped lead UND to MacNaughton Cup titles as WCHA regular season champions in 2010-11 and 2008-09, is the fourth member of this year's senior class to sign a professional contract. Matt Frattin (Toronto Maple Leafs), Chay Genoway (Minnesota Wild) and Brad Malone (Colorado Avalanche) also signed earlier this month.
