The University of North Dakota athletics department is saddened by the loss of UND Athletics Hall of Famer (Class of 1983) Errol Mann, who passed away at his home in Missoula, Mont., of natural causes on April 11 at the age of 71.

Mann was a standout placekicker on the 1965 and 1966 North Dakota football teams and went on to enjoy a 12-year career in the National Football League that included stints with five different teams (Denver, Cleveland, Green Bay and Oakland).

Mann was a two-time All-North Central Conference honoree for the Fighting Sioux and led the team in scoring with 70 points during their NCC Championship run in 1966. He was named to UND's All-Century in 1994.

He spent eight seasons with Detroit and left the Lions after the 1975 season as the team's all-time leading scorer. Mann would finish his career with a two-year stint in Oakland and became the only former UND player to win a Super Bowl Ring in with the Raiders in 1977. He led the NFL in scoring that season.

Mann settled in Missoula, Mont., after his professional football career and worked as a financial consultant for a couple of different firms in town.

The UND Athletics family would like to extend its deepest sympathies to Mann's family and friends.
