GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Former University of North Dakota All-Americans T.J. Oshie, Zach Parise and Jonathan Toews received 2014 Olympic training camp invitations from their respective countries on Monday afternoon.

Oshie and Parise will attend the United States’ orientation camp Aug. 26-27 in Arlington, Va., while Toews will attend Canada’s orientation camp Aug. 25-28 in Calgary, Alberta. Both countries will announce their final rosters at a later date for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.

Toews helped lead Canada to a gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, collecting a team-leading eight points and receiving the Tournament Directorate Award for Best Forward. He and Parise were both named to the tournament all-star team.

A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Toews is coming off a 2012-13 season in which he captained the Chicago Blackhawks to their second Stanley Cup Championship in four years. He scored 23 goals and 48 points in 47 regular season games as the Blackhawks rolled to a league-best 36-7-5 regular season record. Toews also claimed the Frank J. Selke Trophy as the league’s best defensive forward and was named to the NHL All-Star Second Team following the season.

Toews spent two seasons at UND (2005-06 to 2006-07) and earned All-America honors as a sophomore. He collected 40 goals and 45 assists in 76 career games and helped lead the team to a berth in the NCAA Frozen Four both seasons.

Parise also competed in the 2010 Winter Olympics, earning all-tournament honors as a member of Team USA. In the gold medal game against Canada, Parise scored the game-tying goal with 25 seconds remaining to force overtime in an eventual 3-2 Canada victory. The Faribault, Minn., native tied for the team lead in goals (four) and points (eight).

Parise, who had 18 goals and 20 assists in 48 games for the Minnesota Wild last year, spent two seasons at UND (2002-03 and 2003-04) and was a Hobey Baker Memorial Award both seasons. He finished his collegiate career with 116 points (49 goals, 67 assists) in 76 games and was an All-American as a sophomore.

Oshie, a native of Warroad, Minn., is seeking his first Olympic roster spot. He has previously represented the U.S. at the 2013, 2010 and 2009 World Championships, as well as the 2006 World Junior Championsip. In 30 games with the St. Louis Blues last season, Oshie registered seven goals and 13 assists.

Oshie racked up 142 points (59 goals, 83 assists) in 129 career games at UND from 2005-06 to 2007-08, earning All-America honors as a junior. UND advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four semifinal in each of Oshie’s three years with the program.

Three UND products have previously won Olympic gold in men's hockey, including Toews in 2010. The others were David Christian (1977-79), who won gold for the United States in 1980 in Lake Placid, N.Y., as part of the famed "Miracle on Ice" team, and goalie Ed Belfour, who was a part of Canada's gold medal-winning team in 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
