GRAND FORKS, N.D. – UND Athletics announced today that Amazon.com and its local customer service center in Grand Forks has pledged a $5,000 match to funds raised through the North Dakota Strong campaign.

"We are very thankful for Amazon's generous donation to the UND Athletics Department's North Dakota Strong campaign,” said UND Athletics Director Brian Faison. “There are many individuals within the athletics department -- student-athletes, coaches, and staff -- who have been directly affected by breast cancer through a family member or friend battling the disease. So, the North Dakota Strong effort is a very personal undertaking for us. We appreciate Amazon partnering with UND Athletics in this effort to help in the battle with breast cancer."

Money is being raised for the North Dakota Strong campaign through an auction of game-worn men’s hockey jerseys (to be worn this Saturday against the U.S. Under-18 Team), t-shirt sales at local retailers in Grand Forks, and donations made at games and online at UNDsports.com/NDstrong.

The jersey auction is live now at UNDsports.com/auctions and will run through early next week. In addition to the game-worn jerseys, there are three special jerseys autographed by the team that are also up for bidding.

North Dakota Strong continues this week as the UND volleyball team hosts Montana tonight and the UND men’s hockey team hosts the USA U-18 Team on Saturday night.  Fans are encouraged to wear pink to both games. North Dakota Strong pink t-shirts can be purchased at local retailers in Grand Forks with all proceeds going to the campaign.

Fans can learn more about the North Dakota Strong campaign and make an online donation through Amazon Payments at UNDsports.com/NDstrong.
