GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- University of North Dakota head women's basketball coach Travis Brewster announced the hiring of Jeri Jacobson as the new director of basketball operations Monday. Jacobson was a standout player at Upper Iowa University and spent last season as an assistant coach for the Peacocks.
"I am excited to have Jeri join our program and she has hit the ground running," Brewster said. "Jeri has a passion for the game of basketball and the University of North Dakota."
Jacobson's playing career started at Central Wyoming College where she played two seasons and was named to the All-Wyoming Community College Athletic Conference team. She led her team to a 20-10 overall record and a semi-final berth in the Region 9 tournament as a sophomore, averaging 11.5 points and four rebounds per game.
At UIU, the Riverton, Wyo., native finished her collegiate career scoring 555 points in her two seasons as a Peacock. She averaged 8.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game as a junior, making 73 percent of her foul shots.
In her senior campaign, Jacobson poured in 13.8 points per game and added 5.8 rebounds per contest. She posted 25 points, 10 rebounds and five assists on Jan. 28, 2012 vs. Minnesota State, notching a new career best for points in her fourth double-double performance of the season. She was named to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference All-Academic Team.
Jacobson replaces Jackie Voigt, who was promoted to assistant coach earlier this summer.
