Grand Forks, N.D. - University of North Dakota women's golf coach Natalie Martinson announced her captains for the 2013-14 season and team awards from this past season, which was the first for her squad in the Big Sky Conference.

Senior Rachel Oeltjen will serve as the primary team captain and be assisted by a pair of juniors in Amanda Fairweather and Mikayla Kromy.

The 2013-14 season begins two weeks from today at the Cobber Open - a single-day event hosted by Concordia College in Detroit Lakes, Minn.

"We are excited for another season in the Big Sky," Martinson said. "We've added a few more tournaments against league teams throughout the season, which I think will be good for us as we look to keep improving.

"We also go back to some familiar places and have some veterans that have played these courses, so that should be another positive for us."

Four more fall tournaments will follow, including the North Dakota Fall Classic (Sept. 16-17), which will be played at the Kings Walk Golf Course in Grand Forks. UND will also play in tournaments hosted by Big Sky foe Montana (Sept. 9-10; Missoula, Mont.), South Dakota State (Sept. 23-24; Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Xavier (Oct. 5-7; Daytona Beach, Fla.) this fall.

The spring schedule will commence with the Red Rocks Invitational (March 1-2) in Sedona, Ariz. The event is hosted by fellow Big Sky competitor Northern Arizona. Another event hosted by Southern Utah is next up in St. George, Utah (March 14-15). UND will remain on the road and head to Las Vegas with a day off in between the Jackrabbit Invitational (March 17-18) hosted by SDSU.

UND will return to Houston, Texas for the Husky Invitational (March 31-April 1) hosted by Houston Baptist and wrap up the regular season with the Creighton Classic (April 15-16) in Omaha.

The Big Sky Championships are set once again for Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Ariz., from April 20-22.

Martinson also announced the team awards from the 2012-13 season. Freshman Abbie Mozzetti was named both the most valuable player and rookie of the year. Mozzetti held the team's top stroke average and was the top finisher for UND at the Big Sky Championship.

Senior Megan Grozdanich was named the most improved player in her final season with the team. Fairweather was named the volunteer of the year after racking up the most community service hours on the team, while classmate Kromy was the team's unsung hero.
