GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of North Dakota’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will hold a school supply drive from Monday, Sept. 30 through Monday, Oct. 14, with all donations going to the Grand Forks Salvation Army for local families who cannot afford the cost of new supplies.

The school supply drive is part of a conference-wide community service competition among Big Sky Conference schools.

“This is a great way for UND student-athletes and the Grand Forks community to work together to reach a common goal, which is to help the young students in our community,” said SAAC President and senior women’s basketball player Katie Houdek. “Many of these young kids look up to us as student-athletes. It is a tremendous opportunity to help them receive the best possible education, which is something every student deserves.”

Those wishing to donate school supplies can do so by visiting the drop locations at the UND Athletics office at Hyslop Sports Center (Room 120) and at the Grand Forks Salvation Army.

The goal for SAAC is to provide every K-12 student with school supplies for the 2013-14 school year.

For more information, contact UND SAAC staff advisor Stacy Bjorlie at stacy.bjorlie@athletics.und.edu or 701.77.2112.
