CEDAR CITY, Utah – Junior Greg Hardin (Bellevue, Neb.) was named to the preseason All-Big Sky Conference team on Sunday in announcement made by league officials on the opening day of the Big Sky Football Kickoff. Hardin was one of 31 league players named to the team.

A two-time All-Great West first team performer, Hardin and his teammates will be playing their first season in the Big Sky in 2012.

“Greg has shown over the last two seasons the type of football player he can be and it is nice to see that our new league took notice of that by naming him to this team,” UND head coach Chris Mussman said. “We’ll need Greg to continue to put up the numbers he has for us to be successful in this transition.”

Hardin has led UND in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns in each of the past two seasons. He combined for 84 catches and 1,285 yards over those two seasons and hauled in 12 touchdown passes.

Southern Utah senior quarterback Brad Sorensen was named the team’s Offensive MVP, while Montana State senior linebacker Jody Owens was the team’s Defensive MVP.

UND will open the 2012 season on Thursday, Aug. 30 vs. South Dakota School of Mines at 7 p.m. The Big Sky opener for UND will be a road contest at Sacramento State on Sept. 22.
