OGDEN, Utah - Freshman Abbie Mozzetti became the first North Dakota women's golfer to earn Big Sky Golfer of the Week accolades after being selected for the award by league officials on Monday.

Mozzetti, a freshman from Hugo, Minn., shot her best round of the season, carding a two-over-par 74 in Monday’s second round at the Houston  Baptist Husky Invitational. Mozzetti also shot rounds of 82 and 86 to finish with a 242, tying for 34th place.

"This is exciting for our program," UND head coach Natalie Martinson said. "This is our program's first honor, so hopefully we can build on this. Abbie played well down in Houston and showed in that second round the type of player she can be for us."

Sam Houston State won the 15-team tournament with a 911. The meet was played at the Riverbend Country Club in Sugarland, Texas. Julie Roth of Central Arkansas claimed medalist honors with a four-over-par 220.
