MOORHEAD, Minn. – Freshman Jayd Eggert secured her second Big Sky Conference Championship automatic qualifier last night while at the Cobber Twilight.

Eggert landed a personal record hammer throw of 49.45 meters (162’6”), qualifying her for next week’s Big Sky meet. The Minot, N.D., native had previously qualified for the conference championship in the javelin.

Eggert was joined by a pair of teammates among the top eight in the hammer finals. Freshman Bethany Schultz (Rochester, minn.) placed sixth, while sophomore Samantha Guenther (White Bear Lake, Minn.) was eighth.

In the shot put, freshman Alyssa Stolt (Plymouth, Minn.) placed first in her flight before going on to finish sixth in the finals with a mark of 12.72 meters (41’8 ¾”). Teammate Alyssa Lueck (Walworth, Wis.) was right behind in seventh place with a mark of 12.70 meters (41’8”).

Three UND throwers finished among the top six in the discus finals, led by Schultz’s third-place throw of 43.12 meters (141’6”). Eggert was in fourth at 40.23 meters, while freshman Taylor Boster (Halliday, N.D.) finished sixth.

UND will have one final meet – the NDSU Tune-Up on Friday – before taking part in the Big Sky Conference Outdoor Championship May 8-11 in Portland, Ore.
