FARGO, N.D. – The University of North Dakota kicked off the 2014 cross country campaign Friday night at North Dakota State’s Bison Open, competing in a series of duals against the host Bison, South Dakota and South Dakota State.

UND was victorious in its dual against IPFW, but dropped its duals against NDSU, South Dakota State and USD.

Senior captain Nate Peterson paced UND, finishing seventh among 55 runners with a time of 19 minutes, 27.45 seconds.

Peterson’s classmate, Mark Harries, placed 11th with a time of 19:48.23.

Freshman Noah Kirkland, making his collegiate debut, gave UND a trio of runners in the top 20 after placing 18th with a time of 20:00.26.

UND returns to action Sept. at the University of Nebraska/Woody Greeno Invitational in Lincoln.
