Students: The UND spring football game is an opportunity for Fighting Sioux fans to get a glance at the players forming the 2011 team.  On April 16th, the atmosphere at the Alerus Center will be much different than traditional UND football games.  Fans will be able to call plays, teammates will be going head to head against teammates in your classic green versus white matchup, guest coaches will be in tow and interaction with fans by game hosts will be sure to add to the excitement.  Not only will this game provide an intimate atmosphere inside, but the parking lot pre-game will resemble more of a block party than a normal Fighting Sioux football game day.  Students will be able to participate in a tailgating showdown of their own during pre-game activities.  One lucky group of students who throws the best party in the parking lot will be the 2011 Student Tailgating Showdown Champions and receive bragging rights for the entire year as well as a number of prizes.  Prizes include four exclusive tailgating spots for each 2011 home Fighting Sioux football game, grocery gift cards that can be used to keep the party alive all throughout the tailgating season and the coveted 2011 Ultimate Student Tailgating Showdown winner apron to be flaunted about the Alerus Center parking lot for all of eternity!  The first annual Teach Me How to Tailgate, not Dougie, contest is designed to reward students for their enthusiasm and support of Fighting Sioux athletics as well as provide opportunities for student groups to recruit members if they wish.  All groups are encouraged to create themes, hold games, grill or whatever they wish to do to entice their fellow students to vote for their team.  Simply print off the attached entry form and return it before April 8th to be entered!

Sioux Crew will also be throwing their end of the year member appreciation party during the pre-game tailgate complete with radio broadcasts, tables for Root Beer games, a root beer keg, cups, ping pong, face painting, Sioux head bandana spray painting, jousting, bungee runs and so much more!  Check out the release on the exclusive details of this party on the Sioux Crew page at fightingsioux.com!

Other opportunities for students/non-students:  All are welcome to enter the 2011 Sioux Tailgate Challenge in the burger, ribs or both categories.  Registration forms can be found at www.fightingsioux.com and must be completed by April 8th, 2011.  Families will also be able to enjoy a free scavenger hunt in hopes of winning a Family 4 Pack for a 2011 football game of their choice complete with food and drink vouchers as well as a tailgating spot.  A giant obstacle course will also be in the center of the tailgating festivities for anyone to partake in a friendly physical challenge.
